Good afternoon! This morning we visited another medical clinic- Wesleyan Medical Clinic. It is hard to believe what I am seeing when I visit these clinics. This clinic had dirt floors and extremely small rooms. The nurse, Anna, spoke with us about what she sees most often. She says there are mostly cases of malaria. Even in these difficult working environments all the staff seem to work with what they do have with joy and contentment. We visited another medical center, which has a more common name, because they are located in many areas of the world- Mercy Ships has a base location in Freetown. We were not able to go inside here. I will not have the opportunity to visit the Minister of Health until tomorrow. This delay is due to a peace march that will be held in Freetown. It should be happening anytime now! The peace march is for the run-off election that will be held this Saturday. Instead of each party campaigning, they thought it would be a good idea to unify the people with a peace march. There are lots of people that are going to show up for this march, and they will be walking a good distance up and down the main streets of Freetown. Pray for peace during the upcoming run-off election in Sierra Leone.

Chelsea it sounds like Sam is making sure you get an immediate and thorough orientation to the public health needs in Freetown and the spartan clinics and resources to address them. It will be overwhelming at times. Understand this is part of the culture shock but you will adjust as you raise your questions, reflect on the context and express your feelings. The Holy Spirit is present with you to help you in this regard. We are so proud of you. You and the people God is giving you with work with and assist are in our prayers.

Chuck,
I've been out of town, so am catching up on all your entries. I'm there with you in spirit! Don't try to process it all immediately - it will take some time. I'm so proud of you.
Pray for our PB Project fundraiser Saturday night at Northside.
I saw Mike today and he's already missing you!
Be safe and take care of yourself.
Love ya,
Daphne

Chelsea! Mike sent me a link for you blog last night, and I'm so thankful he did. It's nice to see what you're doing and with what grace and courage you have responded to God's call. We're all praying for you here! I even sent out an e-mail to RLC tonight that has a link to your blog, so maybe others can see the great things you're doing! Miss you and can't wait to read more about your life in Sierra Leone! Perhaps I should go to Perkins soon in your honor...
Peace,
Blair

Hey, Mike and I had a great visit today, then we played video games for 6 hours.. LOL.. just joking we didn't, but he is going to be hanging with us some here in the youth group! I have a prediction that you will deliver a baby before you get home!
Keep up the great work!! I wish I could be around as see what you are seeing, it has to be amazing! Not much going on here, normal old stuff. School back in session, the youth are doing good. Celeste says, "Hi!!" We have our first soccer games this Saturday! I will let you know how it goes! Have fun and we will be praying for peace! I would flip in my skin if the US had a peace and prayer walk before a big decision!
See ya soon
